Zero-Goo Hydration Bladder Dryer

A hydration pack is a type of hydration system built as a backpack or waistpack containing a reservoir or "bladder" commonly made of rubber or flexible plastic. The reservoir contains a capped mouth for filling with liquid and a hose that allows the wearer to drink hands-free.  Hydration packs are commonly used for outdoor recreational activities, such as hiking, bicycling, and kayaking, as well as for military maneuvers.

A common problem with hydration packs is making sure the bladder is clean and dry between uses.  Failure to dry the inside of the bladder adequately will result in mold and mildew growth and potential contamination of drinking water.  The Zero-Goo Bladder Dryer solves this problem through the use of a small fan which circulates air inside the bladder.

Catalyst worked with the client in developing the concept, designing the product such that it was simple to assemble and use, and easily engaged with the bladder.  After prototyping and testing, Catalyst supplied rapid aluminum tools within a 3 week lead time and continues to produce parts for the product.
